ABOUT US

Funkwerks Founders

Funkwerks was founded in December of 2010 by Gordon Schuck and Brad Lincoln.

Let’s rewind to 2007: Gordon’s brewing skills and recipe ingenuity earned him a gold medal-winning Saison at the National Homebrew Competition. Meanwhile, Brad was crunching numbers as an accountant in Portland, developing a growing passion for craft beer.

The duo met in 2009 at the Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago, both immersed in Brewing Science. After graduating, they teamed up — with Brad’s numbers know-how and Gordon’s award-winning palate — to bring Funkwerks to life.

What’s a Saison? Originating as Belgian farmhouse ales brewed for farm workers in summer, Saisons are known for their dry finish and complex fruity aromas. Today, they’re brewed year-round — and Funkwerks helped put them on the U.S. map.

While Funkwerks is rooted in Saisons and sours, our lineup includes Belgian and American styles, barrel-aged small batches, and specialty brews. We embrace experimentation — always chasing flavor, balance, and funk.
